I bet you are thinking this too – finally some new work!
I did a quick watercolor swash to liven up my backdrop and went to town. Drawing and painting are such freeing large movements for me, truly liberating after the deliberate and steady work in clay. I am loving all these little gemstones and new shapes, definitely inching towards the end of the diving board, looking forward to plunging into the studio. I hope it is warm where you live because we have been seeing nothing but gray skies and snow here … inching … towards spring.
Looking forward to February, its my favorite month of the year for a number of reasons… I am loving these little geometric stones by illustrator Tabitha Brown of The Pairabirds. The above is a print of amethyst, my birthstone and below “transition.” Both gorgeous, I would love one of these beauties to adorn my walls.
I haven’t made an ETSY treasury in a while but I couldn’t resist doing something themed for Christmas. This was my grandma’s favorite song, it was always the highlight of the Christmas party. ”FIVE GOLDEN RINGS” was the most cherished line, and typically by the end of the song everyone tried to out-sing their line to that dramatized tune. But only the true position of five golden rings was allowed to hold the wooden spoon microphone!

In my search to remember all 12 days I found this list linking the popular song to a ”catechism song” to help young Catholics learn their faith. Here is an explanation of the twelve days below, I found them very interesting.
A Partridge in a pear tree–Jesus Christ.
Two Turtle Doves–The Old and New Testaments.
Three French Hens–The Trinity and/or Faith, Hope and Charity.
Four Calling Birds–The Four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
Five Golden Rings–The first Five Books of the Old Testament.
Six Geese A-laying–The six days of creation.
Seven Swans A-swimming–The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit
Eight Maids A-milking–The eight beatitudes
Nine Ladies Dancing–The nine Fruits of the Spirit
Ten Lords A-leaping–The Ten Commandments.
Eleven Pipers Piping: The remaining eleven faithful apostles.
Twelve Drummers Drumming–The twelve points of doctrine in the Apostles’ Creed
I have lots of pieces in progress, available the first week of December, just in time for my first open house! I am excited to decorate and see everything out! I will be closing my online shop for these two days since I have limited inventory. There will be lots of new pieces at the sale, I will list whatever is left online on Saturday, December 10.
I love celebrating life’s best moments, marriages, birthdays, anniversaries, and new babies. This year has been full of all for me, with people I love most – family. I am striking a little creative vein with these new ceramic baby bowls, thrown on the wheel and then hand-stamped with childhood songs & nursery rhymes. Each of the songs below have special places in my childhood and in my children’s. Hopefully these bring back great moments for you too…
Oh, the Lord’s been good to me.
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need:
The sun, the rain and the apple seed;
Oh, the Lord’s been good to me.
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
We’re going to the Moon
If you want to take a trip
Climb aboard my rocket ship
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
Each bowl is glazed with lead-free glazes, and is microwave and dishwasher safe. All of these are available on my etsy shop. If interested in a custom phrase/rhyme please send me a convo or custom order via Etsy.
I don’t know why I haven’t thought to do this before. I carved a little stamp to be used for all the odd marketing jobs, like little extra notes and stamping bags. I kind of drew this up quick – can you see the little book the mug is on… fun, fun! I like how things are slowly coming together but still very much has the handmade feel. I am still so thankful to be doing what I love while caring for those I love. Etsy has been such a great platform to sell items and so far I have loved using USPS, you can print shipping labels right off of paypal, and stick them in the mailbox. Easy, I would so much rather be making stuff that sweating over shipping it out!
This morning I found someone made this little treasury on etsy and included my little journal. I love all the pink, design and herringbone print!

The truth of the matter is, I make a “ton” of stuff… but never enough. I am trying to learn the balance of how much to make and of what. It must be an age-old artisan thing you have to make to sell, sell to make (and a few extras to keep.)
So I made these little bread dipping bowls with the intention of taking them to my local farmers market. The spiral texture in the middle is perfect for rubbing garlic, which is awesome when mixed with olive oil, a little sea salt, fresh pepper and rosemary. We love fresh bread and often serve it this way at meals. I like the shallow bowl as opposed to plates because I don’t like it when the oil spills over on my linens. I want to sell these guys but I also want to keep them all! These are just one of the things that make me smile when we sit down at the table, like I made something that our whole family enjoys together.
So process… I also made these little spoons, which are cute, the variety is a good indication that I could never make things from molds. I love making them with my hands and their uniqueness. Before I knew it I was stamping letters into them – yummy, sweet… I don’t know if you can see the little blue one but it says “open wide.” I paired the little purple set – wouldn’t that make a sweet little baby present. I’ll have to throw some normal bowls (without the texture) and add some cute sayings, any ideas? I foresee a little throwing in the studio this weekend. This is how I work, one thing usually leads to another. happy weekend.
I made these… all parts handmade. This past fall I was inspired to make some pendant necklaces out of stoneware clay. I love this process as I can stamp textures or meaningful scriptures and encouragement into the clay. Its a new platform to display my work that I had never considered before. Until now I have hung them on suede necklaces but this weekend I put my brush to work and mixed my love for watercolors and silk painting to make these unique watercolor strands for my pendants. They are a soft rolled silk strands, hand sewn and hand painted, I love how the colors come to life and add a softness and playfulness. I also opened a glaze kiln this weekend, I will post more pics later… plus I added a link from my long abandoned flicker account. Lots of new pendants and meaningful pieces. I am truly thankful for this opportunity to create and make such personal works. Enjoy!
