grass roots

Who even knows how long we have been weaving grasses, fibers, roots – since ancient times.  Baskets, fabrics, papers… they are easily missed in modern-day looms and synthetics.  I love the beauty of the leaf, the texture, the color, the challenge.  I did a little experiment this week with a little zebra grass.  But truthfully I was inspired by textile artist Christina Weber, whose work is also deeply influenced by leaves and has done a lovely series of natural elements woven.
